Abstract

Examination anxiety is a common mental health concern among school and college students, particularly those preparing for public examinations. Students experiencing examination anxiety often present with symptoms such as fear, nervousness, difficulty concentrating, sleep disturbances, headaches, chest tightness, fatigue, and various physical complaints. These symptoms are frequently misunderstood as physical illnesses despite the absence of any significant medical condition. Factors such as fear of failure, academic pressure, parental expectations, and social comparisons contribute significantly to the development of examination anxiety. This article discusses the causes, symptoms, and effects of examination anxiety on students’ mental and physical well-being. It also highlights practical strategies for managing examination-related stress, including effective study planning, regular revision, adequate sleep, healthy nutrition, physical exercise, and positive thinking. Furthermore, the article emphasizes the crucial role of parents and family members in providing emotional support, avoiding unnecessary pressure, and fostering a positive learning environment. Through the combined efforts of students, parents, and teachers, examination anxiety can be effectively reduced, enabling students to approach examinations with greater confidence, emotional stability, and academic success.
