Overview

The Tamil Psychiatry Journal (TPJ) upholds the principles of open access, author rights, and ethical publishing.

All articles published in TPJ are freely accessible to readers and distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), promoting global knowledge sharing while protecting author ownership.

Author Copyright

Authors retain full copyright to their published work.

By submitting to TPJ, authors acknowledge that they hold the necessary rights to the manuscript and agree to its publication under the journal’s open access policy.

License to Publish

Authors grant TPJ a non-exclusive license to:

  • Publish, reproduce, and distribute the article in print and electronic formats; and
  • Archive and index the article in relevant scholarly databases and repositories.

This agreement allows the journal to disseminate the work while the author maintains ownership.

Creative Commons License (CC BY 4.0)

All TPJ publications are released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
Under this license, others may:

  • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format;
  • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially;

provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and the Tamil Psychiatry Journal as the source of publication, along with a link to the license.

Reuse and Attribution

Reusers must provide the following:

Archiving and Indexing

Authors grant TPJ permission to archive, index, and deposit their published work in recognized repositories and databases to ensure long-term preservation and discoverability.

These may include institutional repositories, subject-based archives, and global digital preservation networks.

Third-Party Content

If an article contains third-party materials (e.g., figures, tables, or images), authors are responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions to reuse these materials under the CC BY 4.0 license.

Such permissions must be explicitly acknowledged within the manuscript.

Publication Fees

The Tamil Psychiatry Journal currently does not charge authors any article processing, submission, or publication fees.

TPJ maintains an open-access, no-fee model to support equitable dissemination of psychiatric research and knowledge.
